The Vanish + Russ Chimes


Now I want to start off this post by announcing one thing. There’s this fund in Finland called Svenska Kulturfonden that gives grants and stipends to organizations and individuals, in other words they give little or a lot monetary sponsorship for  cultural  or educational events and what-have-you if you seek it and have good reasons for it. This fund is primarily for the Swedish speaking minority of Finland. for instance, let’s say you want to record a record with your band and don’t have any money, alas you go to Svenska Kulturfonden and get the money needed for that recording. They usually will grant it, because they’re sitting on a sum of 36 million euros this year alone in grant-giveaways.

This blog/me have organized (almost) on my own several events in the past with the Danger! Danger! label on it. I did this club-night in my hometown, which is something I feel is needed there, the passions there and no outlet for it and I organized a two-day event last year which I lost a lot of money on, my own money.

So, I figured this time around I will seek funding from Svenska Kulturfonden to get some bands to my hometown and to not risk losing my own money again. I put out a detailed plan and put some numbers together what it would cost, give or take a few bucks, and sent the application to SKF.

I asked for 500 euros for a electronic night of music. And I’ll say it again.. They have 36 million euros this year to give-away. And they refused my application and turned me down. I’m somewhat sad about this, to say the least.
