Jacques L. Dorsey

I Decided to make a big post now, ’cause I have a lot of new great tracks and one per day ain’t gonna cut it now. So, let’s go.

Jacques L. Dorsey is a new producer from Toronto, his persona and image is concealed, and letting the music speak for itself. He remains in the shadows with his black imagery. His approach to his art, as I like to refer to it, is nostalgic 80′s dreamy pop. It’s anticipating sounds with the climax-like synths transports you back into the past and leaves you off in oblivion. This doesn’t sound like it’s supposed to sound like anything, it sounds like it’s meant to be. It’s truly beautiful. It leaves me convinced that this is one of the new producers we need to follow.

He has a mixtape out on Valerie, which I’m gonna go download right now. And he’ll be performing in Toronto at The Drake this Friday. So if you’re close by, go check it out.

Jacques L. Dorsey – Hard Drivn’ (Main)

When I Am Noxious explained to me what kind of track he’s been working on and would like to share, I became a bit put-off if I’m completely honest. “A ballad” he says, and I thought “But darn it, he should know better.. A ballad usually sounds so cheesy, it can so easily sound insincere” . I said. So I downloaded the song, and started listening to it. First it sounded very typical. The organs started it out, but then came the vocals and blew me away. The serenity, the vocals, and the whole arrangement came to be one beautiful summary. I even got goosebumps, the melody was so honest and true. Lovely.

The classical and the new come together in this track.

Magna, a American producer from Pennsylvania, makes a cut-up noisy mash of filter-disco and nostalgic 80′s wave. I really like the fast pace and the noise-covered disco. Sometimes it just confuses you and don’t really know what the hell you’re listening to, but that’s a lot of the charm of this music as well. I’d like to call it fresh, and so I will. Fresh.

He has a EP out on PowerGlove Records called TWO, and it features remixes by Club Cavalry, Evil Stereo and Silver Disco. Nice stuff.
