Michael Jackson

Now that most of the frenzy concerning Michael Jackson’s death has died down I will pay my homage to the King of Pop.

As any musician, blogger, dj or regural mortal we have all been affected by the music and life of Michael Jackson, and I consider myself to have been so very much.

The first time I came in contact with MJ’s music was when my older brother got the Bad on cassette, this was in -87, which means I was around the age of 4-5 when I heard him the first time. As music didn’t mean as much as visual things to me, we got the Moonwalker vhs home at some point which really made me love the titel track Bad in particular. The tough gangs and the outfits that looked more like uniforms played a huge role in my own image. This is what I wanted to be, I wanted to be as cool as Michael.

I followed his career sporiadically after that.

I didn’t like when girls in my art-class liked his They Don’t Really Care About Us, I thought his short hair  and image had strayed too far from the Michael I loved from the beginning. From time to time I listened to his music, and in loved his Earth Song, much for it’s social deeper meaning.

At the age 18 I danced and crotch-grabbed to You Rock My World in the night-clubs.

Some years ago I bought the Jacksons vinyl and a couple of months prior to his death I bought Bad and a single for 50 cents, on vinyl aswell.

My fascination and love for Michael Jackson has followed me through my life, and I was disappointed by the documentary by Martin Bashir that portrayed him as a spoiled, uncaring and plain old stupid man. The person that was assigned to show the real Michael Jackson behind closed doors used the information he had and twisted it shamelessly. Michael as a person, I didn’t know him personally, but I believe and have been shown through the Take Two:The Footage You Were Never Meant To See documentary that he was a truly misunderstood, loving and caring person. Which the media never show, ’cause that never sells any newspapers now does it?

So, to sum it up. Michael Jackson showed the way for many artists today, he was truly the King Of Pop. Peace out.
