FUTURECOP! SLUMBER PARTY MIX 2010

I have to apologize for my lack of enthusiasm for writing that much on this blog and/or the lack of detailed reviews. I’m just tired as a dog from my current job, but it’s just one more day and then I’m done with it, hopefully forever.

So on to the music. Wave Machines seems like a really interesting bad all by themselves, they sum up a lot of different styles and emotions, but in layman terms it’s first and foremost indie and alternative. But it’s deep and organic, I kinda think they’ll be really big soon if they aren’t already.. It’s hard to tell when you’re sole source of music is blogs. But I think I love their music, I just realized while streaming songs from their Myspace right this instance.

But regardless of Wave Machines lovely music, I love the remix of it. British Artwork manages to crank this track up retro-romantic style and does so with grace. I really like this track.

Well, I couldn’t embed the video so I had to upload a picture instead. Yes. I’m talking about Creators Project, which are basically videos with cool dudes talking about how awesome they are and all the other stuff that rotates around them. It’s a joint project between Intel and Vice Mag that are trying to bring forth artists and people within that area. And this Mark Ronson guy seems like a pretty creative guy with all his gadgets and stuff, and he has produced tracks for Lily Allen AND Amy Winehouse. Haha, jesus, I can’t hold my face anymore.. Lily Allen.. And Amy Winehouse. They have some solid tracks, I’ll give ‘em that, and they were probably produced by this guy. So, all the respect to that. I’m sorry, It’s just that I lost all my respect for Lily Allen when she opened her gob about piracy, and Amy is just a complete mess.

But anyway, this Creators Project seems like something music-fascinados would be interested in. It’s like VBS but a bit more laid-back and less cool, but better than most TV.

And no, there’s no music in this post.. ‘Cause, you know.

What can you say about Visitor that haven’t already been said? “Amazing”, “brilliant synth-pop”, “the next blog-sensation” and so on, the list goes on and on. They were blessed by the blog-gods, and rightfully so.

Visitor are craftsmen for all of the senses. The visual is clean and powerful, you just sense the passion in the music by looking at the picture above and then you hear Los Feeling and you suddenly feel the urge to believe in pop music again, and they handled their promotion and social bit with a little elitism. And that is exactly how this production should be treated, only people who truly appreciate it should be let into the trinity.. At first anyway. I won’t go into details but it kinda felt like being allowed backstage at a gig you’ve always wanted to see when getting added on Visitors twitter follow list. Like their music, it’s exclusive without being snobby, it’s sexy without tits & ass and it’s esthetically pleasing in every single way.

This track is a b-side from their incoming debut record called Los Feeling, and that lovely thing will be out on Vulture Records the 21st of June.

Fredrick goes by one rule when creating his music, whatever he would like to hear at this moment he creates, and this shows on the different styles in his music. Okey, it’s not really like night and day, but you can hear the changing shades of tone in his productions but it always have that “pushing” feel to it while the genre itself can sway from more thicker techno to more spacey-retro electro.

The single we are contemplating here is called House, and contains some really cool melodies, it feels a bit mysterious sometimes and on other times it feels a bit darker and more melancholic than we are used to from Fredrick. On this single he got in Christina Roos from Cat5 which provides some really great vocals for this “poptechnoindieitalodisco” track. With remixes by Neon Workout and Pelifics.

Who’s this then? Why haven’t I heard about Koobra before? Too fresh even for me. This Finnish producer consists of one half of the nu-disco/retro duo Helsinki 78-82 and just released his first EP through the Nightrunners series on Top Billin.

And I must say, this feels very professional, and by professional I mean that I dig this hard and I could see this growing big in this coming year. Hope they get some Top Billin shit going in Helsinki again.

This release is oozing with italo and groovy house, I just love the whole package of this, all the right moves and all the right sounds. It’s a God-sent gift to all us Finns who are getting into the summer-romance feeling, and as a Finn I’m proud to hand over to you the soundtrack to your summer. Great stuff.

After chill-wave and sample-wave comes beard-wave. Fresh music from Wanda and Wonder.

But I’m a huge fan of British duo Monarchy and their remix of Kelis’ Acapella is something out of the ordinary, it has the dreamy space-synth covering the whole track with a drumming bass to keep the pace up, the construction around the original vocals are amazing. It works perfectly with her vox and the pop-synth around it, it gives the impression that this was a flawless match. Is she still dating Nas btw? Or did she run out of milkshakes? ehehe.. eh.

Fellow Finn Houratron have signed to Last Gang Records (Boys Noize, Death From Above 1979, Crystal Castles, Chromeo) and is officially a “top-dog”. They just released this video for Corporate Occult, which is something between porn, horror and something Aphex Twin would do, so be aware, it’s not suitable for children or a representable work-place.

I did some little “research” on this act called Magnavox and I believe they are from Spain, I’m pretty sure of that.

Even though the sound of this mysterious duo(!?) goes under the banner of Italo/80′s revival, it is very minimal and a bit frightening, at the beginning of the song and throughout there’s a Silent Hill-like sound that caught my attention. It’s mesmerizing in a sense.

They run the blog Le Vudu and atleast one of them have done music under the name JU before, which is an awesome artist. So here’s their first track called Through The Fire, which is brilliant.
